Meridian Pacific Properties, Inc. is headquartered near San Diego, California, and was founded by Jeffrey King and Kevin Conlon in 2006. The pair sustained careers in high technology for 18 and 26 years, respectively. As senior executives working closely together for over eight years, they discovered that they shared a common interest outside of work: investing in real estate. As it turned out, both Jeff and Kevin had a passion for and personally invested in real estate during most of their working lives.

Over the years, each observed and felt the pain of the high volatility of the stock market and the huge losses that many investors sustained in recent times. They also noted that the real estate in their personal portfolios earned their highest after-tax returns with the lowest volatility year over year, and that this was true with the majority of the investors that they knew. Yet many limit their activities in this arena because there may be a great deal of time involved to “do it right” and gain the appropriate knowledge to actively identify, acquire and manage lucrative real estate investments.

Let’s face it: for most people who work full-time, it is simply not practical to spend the necessary time to obtain education, choose a real estate investment model, set up the investment vehicles and perform the due diligence necessary to earn great returns at low risk. Typically, many of the best opportunities lie in different states or regions because optimal conditions for investing, including housing prices, rent levels, and the local economy, vary greatly across different areas of the country. Therefore, the amount of time involved makes it impractical to invest with strong returns at low risk. And this is where Kevin and Jeff saw a unique opportunity: to create a company that performs as the real estate expert so investors don’t have to. Ultimately, this leads to confidence and peace of mind because they don’t have to spend unnecessary time, money or energy to figure out the formula for success.

Social Mission. At Meridian Pacific, we are guided in our work by a strong sense of social responsibility. Conducting business with honor and integrity is central to our core values. Through our efforts, we create safe, affordable and decent housing, frequently for people who have been disadvantaged in some way. For example, many of our tenants in Jackson, Mississippi were affected directly or indirectly by Hurricane Katrina. Besides building a good reputation with our investors, we also seek to have an equally good reputation with our tenants, as well as our contractors, suppliers, employees and other associates. As we lease our properties, we treat all parties with dignity and respect. Only those businesses that achieve win-win relationships will prosper in the long term.

Kevin Conlon Bio. Kevin Conlon has been a landlord and real estate investor continuously since 1981. He is the CEO of the Memphis Medical Redevelopment Group, LLC, a Tennessee real estate company specializing in the turnaround of distressed commercial real estate assets. 

Prior to co-founding Meridian Pacific Properties in 2006, Mr. Conlon was President and CEO of Palomar Technologies, Inc., a leading manufacturer of semiconductor capital equipment in Carlsbad, CA.  He was recognized by Fortune magazine as one of its “Heroes of Manufacturing” in March 2002, an honor bestowed upon five individuals nationwide. Palomar Technologies was named by Electronic Business magazine as one of the “Top 30” small electronics companies in the world in April 2003. 

Mr. Conlon previously held several senior executive positions in sales and marketing within the semiconductor capital equipment industry in the Silicon Valley for 18 years at Applied Materials, Novellus Systems and Genus, Inc. He is the past chairman of the TechAmerica CEO Roundtable C for San Diego, CA, a group of local chief executive officers and serves on the Engineering Advisory Board for the University of San Diego. A former Army officer, he earned his B.S. degree in Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York and his M.B.A. degree from Santa Clara University in California.

Jeffrey King Bio. Jeffrey King is a California Real Estate Broker who has been investing in real estate since 1987 and has been an active investor in Jackson, MS and Memphis, TN. He is the Chief Operating Officer of the Memphis Medical Redevelopment Group, LLC, a Tennessee real estate company specializing in the turnaround of distressed commercial real estate assets. 

Prior to co-founding Meridian Pacific Properties, Mr. King was Vice President of Sales for Palomar Technologies, Inc., a leading manufacturer of semiconductor capital equipment in Carlsbad, CA. He served with distinction in a number of technical, marketing and sales management positions during his tenure at Palomar, and was responsible for the operations of its two subsidiary companies in Europe and Asia.

A former Marine, Mr. King was the founder and President of Plexus Technologies, Inc, a software firm focused on streamlining the day to day business of local governments in Pennsylvania and held several technical positions at Hughes Aircraft Corporation.
